arboretum1 300x225 Arboretum Nyaru MentengNyaru Menteng Arboretum is located on the East Road of  Palangka Raya (Km 28 from Palangkaraya towards Katingan).

Built in 1988 ,an ex concession area that has been exploited in 1974 with an area of ​​65.2 hectares which is a conservation area of plasma nuftah swamp forest ecosystem, including the type of lowland tropical forests, swampy ground conditions and peat.

Consists of alluvial soil types, Organosol, quartz sand with stagnant drainage. Nyaru Menteng Arboretum is a forest containing different species of trees, often used as a research object and a gathering place for many species of birds and other wildlife.

As a tourist attraction as well as natural conservation areas and study rare plants, located in the village of Bukit Batu subdistrict tumbles Tahay Palangkaraya

Arboretum Nyaru Menteng is part of the scout campground , an area of germplasm conservation of swamp forest ecosystems in Central Kalimantan Province.

Flora and Fauna

Tree species that grow in Nyaru Menteng Arboretum can be classified into 43 families with a total of 139 species of other jenis.antara Ramin (Gonistylus bancanus), swamp Meranti (Shorea spp), Mahang (Macaranga maingayi), Geronggang (Cratoxylon arborescens), Makakang ( Melastoma sp), Lime Dragon (Dryobalanop sp), Kempas (Koompasia malaccensis), Rengas (Gluta Rengas), Palawan (Tristania maingayi), Belangiran (Shorea balangeran), Punak (Tretramerista glabra). Trees that are rare in Nyaru Menteng Arboretum is stretched (Camnospermum sp), Mentibu (Dactylocladus stenostachys), Bintangur (Callophyllum sp), Jelutong (Dyera costulata), Agathis (Agathis sp), Bangkirai (Hopea sp), Gelam Rat (Melaleuca leucadendron ), Jambu-jambu (Eugenia sp) and Tumih (Combretocarpus rotundotus).
In addition there are 4 (four) types of bags Semar identified in this region namely Nepenthes raffesiana, N. maxima, N. ampullaria and N. Gracilis.

The types of lianas include Aglaonema sp, Dianella sp, sp Cyrtosperma, Nephrolepsis sp. Species are also found Banyan (Ficus sp) ranging from shrubs to tree-shaped.
Exotic species from outside the area planted in this area include Alau (Dacridium sp), Galam (Eucalyptus sp), Jackfruit (Arthocarpus heterophylus), Synonym (Arthocarpus integra), cashew (Anacardium occidentale), Rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum), Saga (Adenathera microsperma), Acacia (Acacia auliculiformis), Sungkai (Peronema canescens), similar to jackfruit (Arthocarpus similar to jackfruit), Durian (Durio zibethinus) and Pine (Casuarina sp.)
Several types of wildlife including several species of birds such as Parrots (Gracula religiosa) and Cucak Rowo (Pyocnonotus zeylanicus). Other types such as Komodo (Varanus sp), Snake, Monkey and occasionally still found wild orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus), Owa-owa (Hylobates muelleri) and the squirrel / squirrel.

In this area there are five km long wooden bridge, Orangutan Information Center to see an Orang Utan, guesthouse love nature, camping grounds, hall meetings, Information Center, shelter, hut the work, parking area ajd public toiltets.
